www.oakdalebiz.org Oakdale Chamber Of Commerce, NY 11769 Bring in Independence Day by joining the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce in our first annual Firecracker 5K Run/Walk.  The start will be at 9:00 sharp at Dowling College in Oakdale and registration will begin at 7:30.  The course is a flat, yet scenic one that features the Connetquot River, frequently crossing over the canals that William K. Vanderbilt created on his estate called “Idle Hour” which is now home to Dowling College along with many beautiful homes.  We will also be running through the “Tower Mews” section of Idle Hour featuring the Clock Tower, duck houses that are now residences and the brick archways that defined the service buildings on the Vanderbilt estate. The chip must be returned at the finish line or you will be charged an additional $20.
